to the glory of God once again organized in Ado
Ekiti, Ekiti State, the 2nd Annual Claretian Youth Rally in conjunction
with the Delegation’s Youth Team, headed by the Youth Chaplain, themed: “A Life Inspired by the Word.” In attendance,
were the youths from all our parishes in West Nigeria. The Prefect Of Apostolate Rev. Fr. Matthias Iheonu, cmf, was there
to represent the Major Superior, Very Rev. Fr. Henry Omonisaye, cmf. The Youth Chaplain, Fr. Jude Igba, cmf,
Br. Isaiah Olarewaju, cmf, the Major Econome, and the Delegation’s Secretary, Fr. Terseer Ubi, cmf, Fr. Anthony Agugo, cmf,
and Fr. Edward Kwaghtsule, cmf, were the Claretian priests for the program.
The Bishop of Ekiti Diocese, Most Rev. Felix Ajakaye was there for the opening Mass. In his homily, he was appreciative of the
Claretians for organizing such a rally for the youths. Reflecting on the theme, he called on the youths to be truly inspired by the
Word and thus reflect that strong feeling and enthusiasm it brings in their attitudes for peace and harmony in our country, so
threatened by insecurity. They were urged to make deep their faith especially the Creed, more so that the Pope has announced this
year as the Year of Faith.
The Prefecture of Apostolate, in organizing this Youth Rally, is in keeping with the Action Plan of the Delegation with the intention of
reviving a vibrant youth culture in our country and the evangelizing thrust of the Claretians in this region. There were various talks given to
push forward the theme of this year’s theme by our Claretian priests on hand. There was active participation of all the youths from our
parishes in attendance. Various activities were held ranging from match pasts, Eucharistic celebrations,confessions, quiz, dance and music,
sports and competitions.
At the end, it was a huge success. The youths expressed their
feelings of gratitude for such a rally and wished for more to be held.The Youth
Chaplain was also full of thanks to God, the leadership of the Delegation and all who made this year’s rally come to pass.
